Midori

Inspired by an ancient make up technique known as Kumadori, for Japanese theater Kabuki, this piece draws symbolism from the colors used in the art. Deep red (Beni) as painted on the background is symbolic for Stubbornness, anger, vitriol, determination, forcefulness. Whilst, Light green (Midori) as painted on her face, is symbolic for tranquility, reflection, passivity. Every storm that one faces in life is an opportunity for one to arise from stronger, wiser, and beautiful.
